CALIFORNIA : NAPA VALLEY
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot (7%), Petit Verdot (7%)
FULL-BODIED, BLACKBERRY, BLACK CHERRY, VANILLA, ROSEMARY, CLOVE, CEDAR, OAK
Purity of fruit, balanced acidity, soft tannins, and a round, velvety mouthfeel make for a full-bodied but unusually elegant Cabernet with great polish and sense of place. Oak influence – to thank for the undercurrents of toast, sandalwood, and cigar box here – is subtle and well-integrated, but appreciable, adding sophistication and complexity without distracting from a core of plush dark fruit and herbaceousness.

Riesling
LIGHT-BODIED, DRY, LIME, FLINT, SEA BREEZE, GREEN APPLE, USED OAK
From a very old vineyard near the village of Niedermenninger, Falkenstein’s Kabinett Trocken (the driest and lightest style of German Riesling) is zippy, crunchy, stony, and ethereal, with restrained fruit, tense acidity, and impossibly clean minerality. Hand harvested and matured on the lees in 1,000L barrels for 3-9 months before bottling.

FRANCE : LOIRE VALLEY

MED-BODIED, DARK FRUIT, VIOLET, BAKING SPICE, EARTH, SMOKE, USED OAK
Julien Courtois and his partner have Heidi Kuka have worked tirelessly to restore a neglected 4.5 hectare estate of 40 year old vines in Sologne, where they recognized the land’s potential despite the condition of its long-damaged soils. Courtois has since succeeded in producing a slew compelling, terroir-driven natural wines from this small but mighty estate; the elegant and concentrated ‘Ancestral’ is a fine example of his best work. Give it ~30 mins to open & reveal its magic.

FRANCE : BORDEAUX : SAINT-EMILION
Cabernet Franc, Merlot
MEDIUM-FULL BODIED, RED CURRANT, TOBACCO SPICE, EARTH, OAK
Often Bordeaux sends one’s palate into oaky, tannic shock, but here’s where the buck stops. Savory red fruit, warm tobacco spice, and cedar notes lay atop soft tannins. The result of renouncing any chemicals aside from very little sulfur sets this bottle apart from the rest.

Édouard Lepesme is among a small group of winemakers working to change the public’s perception of the Côtes D’Auxerre (neighbor to the much more famous Chablis region) as a source of only high-yield, inexpensive wines: his entry level Chardonnay — which is decadent yet lean, and incredibly affordable for this price point — speaks for itself.
