Colonel E.H. Taylor Small Batch Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey 750ml
Colonel E.H. Taylor Small Batch Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey 750ml
USA : KENTUCKY : FRANKFORT
CONVENTIONAL : Mash Bill #1 — corn-forward, low-rye
FULL-BODIED, CARAMEL, VANILLA, DRIED FRUIT, BAKING SPICE
The E.H. Taylor Jr. name belongs to a colonel who, in 1897, convinced Congress to pass the Bottled in Bond Act — the first federal consumer protection law in US history, written specifically to define what bourbon meant and guarantee it was what the label claimed. Small Batch honors that act directly: one distillation season, one distillery, aged a minimum of four years in a federally bonded warehouse, bottled at exactly 100 proof. The DSP number on the label reads KY 113 — Buffalo Trace, Frankfort, Kentucky.
What you're buying is the low-rye expression — Mash Bill #1, approximately 75% corn, rye in single digits, malted barley filling the rest. The Small Batch program selects barrels from the middle floors of the rickhouses, where temperature cycling runs gentler than the attic heat that drives the single barrel program. The result is richer caramel and vanilla with measured spice — recognizably Buffalo Trace, but with more sweetness and less pepper than the high-rye expressions from the same distillery.
