MED-FULL-BODIED, BLACK CHERRY, BRAMBLE FRUIT, LICORICE, VIOLET, EARTH, SOME OAK
Est. in the late 19th century and currently run by Elena Pantaleoni and Giulio Armanai, La Stoppa is a highly regarded natural winery and 50 hectare property in northwest Emilia-Romagna. Sourced from the estate's younger (5-10 year old) vines in their most productive productive period, "Trebbiolo" is the lightest and freshest of La Stoppa's wines. Although technically their "entry-level" offering, it certainly doesn't perform as such: an elegant and rustic wine full of character and presence, it has deep dark bramble fruit, bright acidity, and soft, smooth tannin.
WINEMAKING : Low-intervention / natural: fermented in stainless steel with native yeasts and 20 days of maceration, unfined/unfiltered, no sulfur added; aged in tank and released in summer after the vintage
