Distilled at the Buffalo Trace Distillery on the Kentucky River in Frankfort — one of the oldest continuously operating distilleries in the United States — Buffalo Trace takes its name from the ancient bison trail that once crossed the Kentucky River at this site. The mashbill runs high-corn, balanced with a modest rye component, double-distilled through column stills, then transferred into new Ozark Mountain oak barrels that have been yard-aged six months before receiving a heavy char. Barrels rest on the middle warehouse floors for maximum temperature swing and extraction.

After a minimum of eight years, no more than 40 barrels are hand-selected per batch. Consistent vintage after vintage — accessible enough to anchor a cocktail, structured enough to reward the glass neat.
