Dominus 'Napanook' 2019/2021/2023
USA : CALIFORNIA : NAPA VALLEY
CERTIFIED ORGANIC : Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot
FULL-BODIED, BLACKCURRANT, GRAPHITE, DARK CHERRY, CEDAR, 20% NEW OAK
Napanook Vineyard has grown grapes in Yountville since 1836, when George C. Yount planted the first vines in Napa Valley on this land. Christian Moueix — whose family owns Pétrus in Pomerol — brought Bordeaux thinking to the site when he and partners formed the John Daniel Society in 1982; the Moueix family has held sole control since 1995. CCOF certified organic, dry-farmed across 124 acres.
Napanook is the second label of Dominus Estate — a Cabernet-led Bordeaux Blend that draws from the same vineyard as the flagship at a fraction of the price. Winemaker Tod Mostero ages in French oak for 20 months at approximately 20% new, landing the wine with evident structure but not imposing tannin. Scores across 2019, 2021, and 2023 run 93–97 points from Suckling, Vinous, and Jeb Dunnuck.
PAIRINGS :

| Roasted rack of lamb | Bordeaux-classic pairing; herb crust echoes Cabernet Franc's leafy notes |
