Made in two places at once: the grain comes from Picardy in northern France, where soft winter wheat grows in flat agricultural fields near the Belgian border, while distillation happens 700 kilometers south in Gensac-la-Pallue — Cognac country, with its limestone aquifer and centuries of distilling tradition. That geography is deliberate. Grey Goose's Maître de Chai François Thibault came from Hennessy, and brought cognac's production philosophy with him: five-step continuous column distillation, no charcoal filtration, proofed down with the same limestone spring water running under the Cognac houses.

The result is a vodka that earns its reputation on texture rather than neutrality — the creamy mouthfeel is a direct function of the water source and the no-filtration decision.
