Old Fitzgerald is one of Kentucky's oldest bourbon brands, traced to 1870 and later shepherded through Prohibition by Pappy Van Winkle — who introduced the Whisper of Wheat that defines the style to this day. Heaven Hill acquired the brand in 1999 and has been distilling it at Bernheim in Louisville ever since.

The 7 Year Bottled-in-Bond meets all five requirements of the 1897 Bottled-in-Bond Act: same distillery, same distilling season, aged a minimum of four years in a bonded government rickhouse, and bottled at exactly 100 proof with nothing but water. At seven years, it carries more age than the Act requires — and it shows in the layered dried fruit and leather on the finish.

Wheat as the secondary grain (20%, replacing rye) rounds the palate and keeps the proof approachable. This is the brand's first permanent, widely available expression — the seasonal decanter releases have historically been the only way in.
