Silver Thread has farmed the eastern shore of Seneca Lake biointensively since Paul and Shannon Brock took over in 2011 — a no-till, low-intervention approach that borrows from organic and biodynamic viticulture without leaning on either. The "Good Earth" name is their thesis in a bottle: soil health first, everything else follows.
The 2021 vintage brought a rainy summer that waterlogged the vines and kept alcohol lower — 11.7% — while delivering strong flavor and color development. The blend of four cool-climate varieties produces a wine that's lighter on its feet than most American reds: soft tannins, no heat, fruit-forward.
