Birgit Eichinger’s Strass is the village wine of her Kamptal estate — sourced from a mix of the property’s loess, gneiss, sandstone, and granite parcels in and around the village of Strass. Grapes are hand-harvested early, on acidity, then cold-fermented in stainless steel with four months of lees contact before bottling.
The estate sits at the foot of Ried Gaisberg, one of Austria’s great premier vineyard sites, and Birgit holds 1ÖTW Erste Lage status for three of her single vineyard wines. The Strass is where you get the house style at an everyday price.
