MED-BODIED, BITTER ORANGE, ALLSPICE, CLOVE, DRIED HERB

Distilled from fresh cane juice at family-owned Haitian distilleries — rhum agricole at its base, not molasses-based rum — then infused with wild-foraged native barks and botanicals: bois bandé, campêche, bitter orange peel, allspice, clove, cinnamon, and vanilla. Drier and more herbal than the spiced rum category suggests. 90 pts, BTI Gold Medal.

The name comes from Dutty Boukman, who launched the Haitian Revolution against French rule in 1791. Ten percent of profits fund education in Haiti through the Haiti Futur non-profit.
