Scott Frank founded Bow & Arrow in Portland in 2010 with a single conviction: the Willamette Valley is Loire Valley territory, not Burgundy. Where his neighbors plant Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Frank plants Gamay, Cab Franc, and Melon — sourcing from organic and biodynamic growers and making wine in a subterranean facility on NE Sandy Boulevard that looks nothing like Napa and feels a lot like the Left Bank.

The Time Machine Red is that philosophy bottled. Gamay goes in semi-carbonic for the fruit crunch; Cab Franc is destemmed and aged in large neutral puncheons for structure and the signature twist of pepper; Pinot Noir sees barrique for weight and complexity. The result lands light on its feet — best with a slight chill, best with food, best on a warm evening when you want something precise and effortless.

The 2022 vintage, despite a difficult spring frost, finished beautifully — a warm, dry October saved the season and delivered wines with ideal acidity and bright, expressive fruit.
