Buglioni has farmed organically in the heart of Valpolicella Classico — Corrubbio di San Pietro in Cariano — since 1993, where dark clayey soils with high gravel content sit at about 500 feet elevation. The L'Imperfetto is 100% estate fruit, hand-harvested, with a small portion dried before pressing to deepen the fruit. The name came from a branding compromise: Mariano Buglioni's intended name was already taken, so he settled for "(I'M) Perfetto" — a perfect wine with an imperfect name.

The 2021 vintage saw even rainfall and warm September days paired with cool nights, allowing unhurried ripening across the Valpolicella hills. After fermentation, the wine aged 6 to 8 months in tonneaux and 50-hectoliter casks, then 9 months in bottle. Wine Enthusiast awarded 91 points.
