Although Cantina Delsignore is a historic producer and strictly traditional in their winemaking methods, 'Borgofranco' stands out as one of their more "wild" wines (fitting, as the name "borgo franco" refers to when Gattinara received their independent, free town status from the Republic of Vercelli in 1242)...

 As light as it is dark, the flavor profile here ranges from deeply savory to lightly sweet (wild  herbs and dried cherry; violet and citrus) – and meanwhile, the wine’s dense, very chewy tannins are lifted and countered by fresh acidity.
