Chateau Guipiere Muscadet Sevre-et-Maine Sur Lie 'Clos des Morinieres' 2023 750ml
FRANCE : LOIRE VALLEY : MUSCADET SÈVRE-ET-MAINE
SUSTAINABLE : Melon de Bourgogne
LIGHT-BODIED, CITRUS ZEST, GREEN APPLE, SEA SALT, WHITE FLOWERS, NO OAK
Clos des Morinieres is a single enclosed parcel in Vallet — the capital of Muscadet — where 35-year-old Melon de Bourgogne vines grow in sandy-silty soils over a clay base derived from weathered mica schist. The gentle slope drains efficiently; the schist below drives the wine's mineral tension and saline edge.
Philippe Nevoux took over Château Guipière in 2015 with Stéphane Gouraud as cellarmaster, and rebuilt it around a single idea: single-vineyard Muscadet that shows what the region's varying geologies actually taste like. HVE3-certified since 2018, with full organic certification arriving on the 2024 harvest.
Six months on fine lees in underground stainless steel tanks — double the appellation minimum — adds a fleshy mid-palate and a trace of CO₂ prickle without softening the wine's citrus line. The result is Muscadet with structure, not just refreshment.
PAIRINGS :
| Oysters on the half shell | the saline mineral backbone mirrors raw shellfish brine — the textbook Muscadet pairing |
| Steamed mussels in white wine | citrus acidity cuts through the broth; classic Loire match |
| Grilled shrimp à la plancha | producer's own pairing; the citrus-forward, no-oak profile lifts clean charred sweetness |
