Chateau Laulerie Bergerac Blanc 2023 750mL
FRANCE : SOUTHWEST FRANCE : BERGERAC
SUSTAINABLE : Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon
MED-BODIED, GRAPEFRUIT, GOOSEBERRY, STONE FRUIT, HERBAL, NO OAK
Chateau Laulerie is a Dubard family estate in Bergerac — Bordeaux's eastern neighbor on the Dordogne, where the same Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon grow on calcareous hillsides at a fraction of the Bordeaux price. The second generation now runs the operation; certified sustainable farming throughout.
This is a 50/50 Sauvignon Blanc/Sémillon blend, which is a deliberate structural choice — most producers in Bergerac lean 70–80% Sauvignon for easy commercial appeal. Laulerie's equal split gives the wine Sémillon's mid-palate texture alongside Sauvignon's lift.
Grapes go through a 12-hour cold maceration — a Loire/Bordeaux Blanc technique rarely used at this price point — before cold-fermenting in stainless steel for three weeks. No oak, lightly fined, bottled young under screwcap.
PAIRINGS :
| Steamed mussels in white wine | bright acidity cleans the briny richness |
| Roasted chicken with lemon and thyme | Sémillon handles the fat; citrus mirrors the herbs |
| Goat cheese and herb flatbread | acidity cuts the tang; Sauvignon lifts the herbs |
