Dashe sources from old-vine Zinfandel in Contra Costa County and the Sacramento River Delta — growing regions better known for vine age than for AVA pedigree, but that history is exactly the point. Some of these blocks have been in the ground since the 1890s; the yields are low, and the wine carries that in its density.
The 85% Zinfandel core is framed by 8% Teroldego and 7% Tannat — an uncommon combination that adds structural grip without blunting the fruit. Native yeast and entirely older French oak keep the production honest. 92 points from both Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast, with Wine Enthusiast's Tonya Pitts calling it a Best Buy at this price.
