SUSTAINABLE : Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Merlot
MED-BODIED, RASPBERRY, SPICE, BLACK OLIVE, HERBAL, NEUTRAL OAK
Domaine Preignes le Vieux sits between Béziers and Agde on the sun-drenched Mediterranean terraces of the Languedoc, its roots going back to the 13th-century château at the heart of the estate — and, deeper still, to Roman excavations that turned up amphoras bearing witness to winemaking here since 118 AD. The Vic family has owned it since 1905; Jérôme, the fifth generation, runs the cellar with his wife Aurélie, who handles the oenology.
The Réserve du Domaine Rouge is a southern-style blend of 45% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 15% Cinsault, and 15% Merlot — fermented and aged in stainless steel to let the fruit do the talking. The result is fresh, juicy, and built for the table: that saffron-and-black-olive note is the signature of the Coteaux de Béziers appellation.
PAIRINGS :
| Braised lamb shoulder with olives and herbs | the classic Languedoc pairing — herbal stripe and balanced tannins built for a slow-braise |
| Duck confit | raspberry brightness cuts through the richness of duck fat; a natural fit for the region |
| Grilled merguez with harissa | the saffron and spice notes in the wine echo the North African seasoning |
