Le Puy 'Duc des Nauves' 2021 750ml
FRANCE : BORDEAUX : COTES DE BORDEAUX
BIODYNAMIC : Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon
MED-FULL-BODIED, RED CHERRY, SOUS-BOIS, BLACK TRUFFLE, NO OAK
Château Le Puy has farmed the same patch of limestone plateau above the Dordogne since 1610 — never with synthetic chemicals, not once in four centuries. ‘Duc des Nauves’ comes from a neighboring nine-hectare vineyard the Amoreau family acquired in 2006, planted on the same astéries-limestone that defines Le Puy’s precision, at 80 meters above sea level.
Fermented spontaneously in concrete, aged twelve months in tank, unfined and unfiltered, SO2 at 27mg/L. The restraint is intentional — this is the approachable entry to the Le Puy lineup, built for the table more than the cellar. The freshness reads immediately; the tannins are velvety and fine.
PAIRINGS :
| Roast duck with cherry sauce | red fruit and sous-bois find their counterpart in the richness |
| Beef bourguignon | the regional match; earthiness and dark fruit meet the braise head-on |
| Aged Comté or Gruyère | fine tannins and acidity cut through the fat cleanly |
