Ghostrunner sources from Lodi's heritage vineyards — own-rooted, ungrafted vines that survived phylloxera in the region's sandy loam soils, where the louse historically struggles to establish. Mike O'Connell built the brand alongside winemaker Larry Levin, whose resume stretches from 17 years at Dry Creek Vineyard through head winemaking roles at Quintessa, Ravenswood, and Robert Mondavi. The wine is made in St. Helena; the grapes do the traveling.
The 2023 is a cooler-vintage expression — Lodi ran two to five weeks behind schedule, producing wines with higher acidity, more restraint, and greater definition than warm-year norms. Wine Enthusiast 90 points, Best Buy, reviewed by Tonya Pitts.
PAIRINGS :

| Braised lamb shoulder | tannin and fruit match the braise; peppery finish echoes the herbs |
| Grilled ribeye | fruit and acidity cut the fat; the black pepper finish bridges the char |
