Good Intentions Wine Co. 'Relatively Red' 2023 750ml
AUSTRALIA : SOUTH AUSTRALIA : LIMESTONE COAST
BIODYNAMIC : Shiraz
LIGHT-BODIED, RASPBERRY, RHUBARB, WHITE PEPPER, EARTHY FUNK, NO OAK
Certified biodynamic Shiraz from Andrew and Louise Burchell, a husband-and-wife operation founded in 2014 on the south-east edge of South Australia. Fruit comes off sandy soils over limestone near the ocean in Mount Benson — cool maritime, a long way from the warm-Shiraz cliche of Barossa or McLaren Vale.
Whole-bunch carbonic for a week, then gentle destem and a 24-hour skin contact before pressing. Wild yeast, minimal sulfur, unfined, unfiltered. The result is a chillable, low-tannin Shiraz — raspberry and rhubarb up front, white pepper through the middle, a flicker of earthy funk and the gentle VA lift natural-wine drinkers will recognise. Imported by Little Peacock.
PAIRINGS :
| Wood-fired pizza | acidity cuts the cheese; chillable temperature handles the tomato |
| Grilled merguez sausages | white pepper in the wine echoes the spice mix |
| Charcuterie with mortadella | light body sits with cured meats without overpowering |
