Sourced from Redwood Valley and Hopland — two Mendocino County sites with red, iron-rich soils and well-drained rocky terrain — this is the case for California Chardonnay without the oak. The grapes are cold-settled, fermented in stainless, and aged six months with no malolactic, which lets the fruit come through clean and the acidity stay intact.
Laely Heron launched this wine in 1994 when oaked California Chardonnay was essentially the only option, building it around what the region could do instead — brightness, texture, and varietal clarity. The 2024 earned 90 points and a Best Buy designation from Wine Enthusiast.
