Rock and Rye is one of America's original bottled cocktails — rye whiskey sweetened with rock candy, brightened with citrus, and finished with horehound in place of bitters — a format that predates Prohibition and was well enough established to be sold medicinally during it. Hochstadter's Slow & Low revives the category as a ready-to-pour Old Fashioned, built on 6-year-old straight rye and backed by raw Pennsylvania honey, Florida navel oranges, lemon, and grapefruit peel.

Cooper Spirits Co. launched it in 2011 out of Philadelphia, where the family has been in the spirits business since the end of Prohibition — the same company Robert Cooper built before creating St-Germain elderflower liqueur. The 100ml format pours a single to double serve without committing to a full bottle.
