Gentleman Jack is the only whiskey in the Jack Daniel's lineup to undergo the Lincoln County Process twice — once before aging in new charred oak, and once after. Both passes draw the spirit through ten feet of sugar maple charcoal, stripping harsher grain character and producing the smooth, round texture the expression is known for.

Introduced in 1988, it carries the same 80% corn, 12% rye, 8% malted barley mash bill as Old No. 7, and draws on Cave Spring water in Lynchburg — iron-free limestone-filtered spring water at a consistent 56°F. The second post-aging charcoal pass is what separates Gentleman Jack from the core line: more integration, cleaner finish, less raw grain character.
