La Ferme Rouge has been farming the Zaër region since the 1930s, with the last 30 years a deliberate push toward organic certification. The 'Terre Rouge' name refers to the characteristic red soils — ancient sand, red clay, and limestone, rich in iron — that define the estate's character and give the wine its mineral backbone.
Destemmed grapes ferment spontaneously in concrete tanks, then rest in second-hand Burgundy barrels with only a low sulfite addition at bottling. The result is straightforward and genuinely drinkable — a Mediterranean red from a country the wine world is starting to pay attention to.
