Ladoucette Comte Lafond Sancerre 2023 750ml
Ladoucette Comte Lafond Sancerre 2023 750ml
FRANCE : LOIRE VALLEY : SANCERRE
Sauvignon Blanc
MED-BODIED, CITRUS PEEL, STONE FRUIT, CHALK MINERALITY, GRASSINESS, NO OAK
Baron de Ladoucette's family has farmed the Loire since 1787, when Comte Lafond — the ancestor the label honors — purchased vineyards from a daughter of Louis XV. Six generations later, Baron Patrick de Ladoucette oversees the estate from Château de Nozet in Pouilly-sur-Loire, producing Sancerre from parcels in Bué, Chaudoux, Chavignol, and Verdigny — averaging 30 years of vine age on clay, limestone, and silica soils.
The Comte Lafond is made without oak, full stop. Fermentation runs slow and cold in stainless steel for six to eight weeks, preserving the variety's aromatic precision, then the wine rests on its lees for three to six months. View From the Cellar rated it 92+ and noted the wine as "first class Sancerre" with complexity still unwinding — a drinking window through 2035.
PAIRINGS :
| Oysters on the half shell | limestone minerality in the wine echoes the brine; classic |
| Crottin de Chavignol | same village, natural counterpoint — lactic tang against citrus acidity |
| Branzino with lemon and herbs | citrus-forward white fish dishes meet the wine at the finish |
