Louis Roederer Champagne Brut Rose 2017 750ml
FRANCE : CHAMPAGNE
BIODYNAMIC : Pinot Noir, Chardonnay
MED-BODIED, STRAWBERRY, APRICOT, TOASTED BRIOCHE, MINERAL, OAK
The 2017 Brut Rosé draws from two estate vineyards: Pinot Noir from Cumières on the Montagne de Reims, and Chardonnay from the Grand Cru village of Chouilly on the Côte des Blancs. Color comes from prolonged skin infusion rather than blending in still red wine — a technique Roederer uses to preserve aromatic precision and produce a cleaner, more focused pink fruit expression.
2017 was one of the hardest frost years in modern Champagne history. Late April frosts cost Roederer 35–40% of its Pinot Noir crop and 23% in the Côte des Blancs. What survived is concentrated and taut — and after 54 months on the lees, the wine has built the toasted brioche complexity that separates aged vintage Champagne from the rest. Falstaff 96 pts. James Suckling 94 pts.
PAIRINGS :
| Grilled salmon | acidity cuts the richness; red fruit echoes the pink flesh |
| Duck breast with cherry reduction | Pinot Noir in the blend mirrors the savory depth; reduction aligns with red fruit |
| Seared scallops | delicate sweetness pairs with the wine's apricot notes; bubbles refresh the palate |
