Lucien Crochet Sancerre 'La Croix du Roy' 2022 750mL
Lucien Crochet Sancerre 'La Croix du Roy' 2022 750mL
FRANCE : LOIRE VALLEY : SANCERRE
SUSTAINABLE : Sauvignon Blanc
MED-FULL-BODIED, CITRUS, PEAR, CHALKY MINERAL, HERBAL, NO OAK
Domaine Lucien Crochet has been making Sancerre from the village of Bué since the 1980s, and La Croix du Roy is its most structured blanc — sourced from multiple parcels of Terres Blanches, the striking white Oxfordian limestone soils that give upper Sancerre its particular chalk and weight. Vinified entirely in stainless steel with a late racking, no oak dressing, nothing between you and the terroir.
The 2022 vintage is exceptional — an early harvest from a hot, dry summer punctuated by crucial August rain. Concentrated and impeccably balanced, with a drinking window out to 2029.
PAIRINGS :
| Crottin de Chavignol | the same village makes the cheese; mineral and tang in perfect alignment |
| Oysters on the half shell | mineral-driven Sancerre is one of the world's great oyster wines |
| Herb-roasted chicken | herbal and citrus notes echo tarragon and lemon in classic roast preparations |
