Mas Des Agrunelles Terrasses du Larzac 'L'indigene' 2022 750ml
FRANCE : LANGUEDOC : TERRASSES DU LARZAC
BIODYNAMIC : Syrah, Grenache, Carignan
FULL-BODIED, DARK BERRY, GARRIGUE, WHITE PEPPER, NEUTRAL OAK
Mas des Agrunelles sits 20km northwest of Montpellier in the villages of Argelliers and Murles, at 200m elevation where clay-limestone soils and cool microclimates keep the wines sharp and fresh for Languedoc. Frédéric Porro and Stéphanie Ponson, three generations of female winemakers in the family, farm under 25ha biodynamically with no oenological products.
L’Indigène draws from the coolest parcels of both communes: 60% Syrah, 25% Grenache, and 15% old-vine Carignan (planted 1985). Grapes are partially destemmed, fermented with indigenous yeast in stainless steel, and the Carignan component ages 12 months in used French oak before blending. Lightly fined, unfiltered.
PAIRINGS :
| Slow-roasted lamb shoulder | the acidity cuts through the fat; dried herbs echo the garrigue |
| Wild mushroom risotto | the earthy Carignan matches porcini and cremini depth |
| Cassoulet | full tannins hold up to duck confit and white beans |
