Medici Ermete has been farming this stretch of the Via Emilia since 1890, and the family's fourth generation spent the late 1980s rebuilding Lambrusco's reputation from the vineyard up — cutting yields roughly 35% below the legal maximum rather than chasing the volume that had collapsed the category. I Quercioli comes from the estate's own organically farmed vineyard just outside Reggio Emilia, a 50/50 blend of Lambrusco Salamino and Lambrusco Marani built specifically to balance Salamino's structure against Marani's fresh acidity.
Fermented and made sparkling in stainless steel, it skips any oak or autolytic character in favor of pure, violet-scented fruit. Wine Enthusiast has called it a Best Buy at 90 points.
