Michel Nartz Gewurztraminer 2021 750ml
FRANCE : ALSACE : DAMBACH-LA-VILLE
SUSTAINABLE : Gewurztraminer
MEDIUM-FULL BODIED, LYCHEE, ROSE PETAL, GINGER, WHITE PEPPER, OFF-DRY
Michel Nartz farms 50 hectares of clay-limestone soils in Dambach-la-Ville — a village with family roots dating to 1688 — in the shadow of Grand Cru Frankstein, one of Alsace’s 51 Grand Crus. The Gewurztraminer vines, planted in the 1970s and 80s, are described as “Millerandé”: struggling in gravelly soils and forced to dig deep, concentrating the character. Hand-harvested, pneumatic-pressed, stainless-fermented, unfined. The 2021 finished with an Indian summer and cool nights that preserved the aromatic lift — Gewurzt as it’s meant to be, textured and spiced without tipping into sweet.
PAIRINGS :
| Alsatian choucroute | the regional match — spiced pork and kraut are built for Gewurztraminer |
| Aged Munster cheese | the classic Alsace pairing; aromatic intensity meets the wine’s richness |
| Thai green curry | the off-dry body tames heat; lemongrass and coconut mirror the profile |
