Grenache Blanc from five vineyards across the Western Cape, predominantly rooted in decomposed granite in the Voor-Paardeberg and Paardeberg. Marelise Niemann cold-soaks the grapes on skins for 48 hours — enough to build texture and a pithy, saline edge without fermenting on skins and losing the variety's freshness. Press, settle, indigenous yeast fermentation in old French oak barrels, and just under ten months on gross lees. Bottled without fining.
The 2023 is more opulent than previous vintages — a compressed yield after a wet summer concentrated the fruit, while the Paardeberg's granite sites weathered the season better than most. Christian Eedes scored it 96/100, noting "a thrilling tension" and "super-concentrated fruit and driving acidity before a pithy finish." Marelise Niemann was named Tim Atkin MW's Young Winemaker of the Year 2023.
