Inspired by the nine classical Muses said to inhabit this valley in antiquity, the '9' Red is the workhorse blend of a family estate that has been farming these slopes above Askri since 1946. Mouhtaro — one of Greece's rarest indigenous red varieties, found almost exclusively on Mount Helikon's slopes — anchors the blend at 40%, alongside equal parts Merlot and 20% Syrah. Unoaked and made for early drinking, it wears its terroir in the way it should: upfront fruit, a distinctive peppery finish, and more grip than a Merlot-dominant wine at this price has any right to show.
