Nicodemi farms a single contiguous 30-hectare estate in Notaresco — roughly 10 kilometers from the Adriatic — where limestone and clay soils, east-facing slopes, and steady sea breezes produce Montepulciano of unusual aromatic clarity for the DOC. The estate has been certified organic since the 2019 vintage; no herbicides, pesticides, or fertilizers.
Elena and Alessandro Nicodemi — architect and economist, respectively — left careers in Rome to continue the project their father Bruno started in 1970. Elena now oversees production; the philosophy, as the family puts it, is to let nature guide the wine into a mirror of the land. Terrana is the everyday expression of that idea: hand-harvested Montepulciano fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel, with no oak contact, and bottled within three months.
Wine Enthusiast rated the 2022 vintage 90 points — Best Buy. The floral, blackberry-driven character and wet-slate minerality are the profile; the price is the argument.
