Altos Plata comes from NOM 1111 in Arandas — the informal capital of Los Altos, the Highland region of Jalisco at roughly 2,100 meters elevation. Red clay soils and cooler temperatures at altitude push Blue Weber Agave to higher sugar concentration and more pronounced fruit character than valley-grown plants. The brand was co-founded in 2009 by bartenders Dré Masso and Henry Besant with maestro tequilero Jesús Hernández, built from the start as a cocktail tequila that didn't require compromise on production method to hit its price point.

The production method separates Altos at this price point: roasted piñas are crushed using both a traditional tahona — a two-tonne volcanic rock wheel — and a modern roller mill, and the two distillates are blended before bottling. Unaged, additive-free, 40% ABV. The Plata is clean and citrus-forward — bright enough to carry a Tommy's Margarita, structured enough to hold up neat.
