Pichler-Krutzler Dürnstein Gruner Veltliner 2021 750ml
Pichler-Krutzler Dürnstein Gruner Veltliner 2021 750ml
AUSTRIA : WACHAU : DÜRNSTEIN
CERTIFIED ORGANIC : Grüner Veltliner
MED-BODIED, BRIGHT CITRUS, WHITE PEPPER, STONE FRUIT, MINERAL GRIP, NO OAK
Pichler-Krutzler was founded in 2007 by Elisabeth Pichler-Krutzler, daughter of FX Pichler, and her husband Erich Krutzler. Working a 13-hectare estate certified organic since 2019, they source this Dürnstein bottling from flat, sandy-gravel vineyards along the Danube, where the river reflects heat back onto the vines and ripening arrives earlier than on the terrace sites above.
The 2021 vintage is widely called historic in Austria: six weeks of unbroken September sun followed by cool nights, ideal conditions for Grüner Veltliner's white pepper and citrus character. Fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel, bottled in February with screw cap. Wine Advocate 90 pts.
PAIRINGS :
| Wiener Schnitzel | the classic Austrian pairing; citrus and white pepper cut the breading cleanly |
| Steamed halibut with herb butter | round texture and stony finish balance the delicacy of the fish |
| Asparagus risotto | herbal notes and acidity highlight the vegetable |
