Schlosskellerei Gobelsburg Cistercien Rosé 2021 750ml
AUSTRIA : KAMPTAL : NIEDERÖSTERREICH
SUSTAINABLE : Zweigelt, St. Laurent, Pinot Noir
DRY ROSÉ, RED BERRY, ROSE PETAL, CITRUS, MINERAL, LEAN AND STAINLESS
Schloss Gobelsburg was founded by Cistercian monks in 1171 — 850 years before this vintage saw the harvest. The "Cistercien" rosé honors that lineage directly: Zweigelt, St. Laurent, and Pinot Noir from the coolest sites in Gobelsburg and Langenlois, where red grapes never fully ripen for table wine but produce something more interesting — a rosé that thinks like a white. Whole-cluster pressed without skin contact, cold-fermented in stainless, no malolactic, no oak. The 2021 vintage, Austria's celebrated "dream vintage," locks in exceptional freshness.
The result is lean and aromatic, pale pink, with the mineral spine of the Kamp valley's loess and volcanic sandstone soils. Where Provence rosé is rounded and lush, Gobelsburg is angular and gastronomic — less a poolside pour, more a wine that earns a seat at the table. Wine Advocate praised adjacent vintages as "a delicious, very fine and elegant rosé with the finesse of France and the fruit of Austria."
