Twomey Anderson Valley Pinot Noir 2021
Twomey Anderson Valley Pinot Noir 2021
USA : CALIFORNIA : ANDERSON VALLEY AVA
SUSTAINABLE : Pinot Noir
MED-BODIED, RED FRUITS, CEDAR SPICE, DRIED FLORAL, DUSTY MINERALS, FRENCH OAK
Anderson Valley is one of California's coldest AVAs — the Pacific fog rolls in through the Navarro River valley every morning, and the diurnal swing can hit 50°F. It's exactly the kind of pressure that makes Pinot Noir interesting. Twomey pulls from three distinct sites: Bearman Bend for forward, aromatic elegance; Monument Tree for structure and spice; Ferrington for cool-climate precision. The 2021 scored 93 points from James Suckling and 92 from Decanter.
Twomey was founded in 1999 as the Pinot Noir project of the Duncan family — the same family behind Silver Oak. Same sourcing obsession, different grape entirely. All estate vineyards are certified under Fish Friendly Farming, a genuine watershed-protection commitment tied to the Navarro River's salmon habitat that runs through the valley floor.
2021 was a compressed, drought-year harvest — lower yields, concentrated fruit, fine tannins with the freshness the cool region always delivers. Drinks well now; window runs to 2030. Serve at 61°F in a Burgundy glass, brief decant welcome.
PAIRINGS :
| Grilled salmon | the California classic — Pinot’s acidity and red fruit cut through rich fish |
| Duck breast, cherry reduction | red fruit and cedar spice echo duck’s richness; the sauce mirrors the wine |
