Made by Chris Christensen from CCOF certified organically dry-farmed old vines at Venturi Vineyards in Calpella, Mendocino. 69% Petite Sirah supplies the near-Vantablack color and mouthfeel; 31% Zinfandel adds blueberry jam and spice. Both varieties de-stemmed, co-fermented spontaneously, pressed, and finished in tank — no fining, no filtration, no sulfur.
"Maximizing the mouthfeel and minimizing the tannins was the name of the game," says Christensen. The wine delivers — dark and dense, but carrying it lightly. Named to Wine Enthusiast's 40 Under 40 in 2020, Christensen is one of the more prominent Black winemakers working in California natural wine.
