Woodford Reserve is produced at one of America's most storied distillery sites — a National Historic Landmark in Versailles, Kentucky, where distilling dates to 1812. The Distiller's Select is triple-pot distilled on site, then blended with column-still bourbon from Brown-Forman's Shively distillery and aged in new charred oak. Master Distiller Elizabeth McCall (who succeeded Chris Morris in 2023) oversees a mash bill that leans on an above-average rye content — 18% — which accounts for the spice that runs through the palate.
The 1L format delivers the same 90.4-proof juice as the standard 750ml, just more of it — a sensible buy for cocktail use or as a go-to house bourbon.
