Most bourbons go into the barrel at 125 proof — the legal maximum — and come out watered down. 1792 Full Proof skips the dilution step and bottles at exactly that entry proof, passing only through a plate-and-frame filter rather than the chill filtration that strips character from most Bardstown bourbon. What you get is the spirit as it was designed: bold, viscous, and rye-forward, with a mouthfeel that carries the oak and caramel further than a lower-proof pour would.

Barton 1792 has operated on its current Bardstown site since 1879 — the oldest fully operational distillery in the Bourbon Capital of the World. The 2023 batch drew particular attention from reviewers as a meaningful step up from prior releases, with better balance and a transformative mouthfeel that made $60 MSRP feel like a deal.
