1792 Sweet Wheat Bourbon Kentucky 750ml
UNITED STATES : KENTUCKY : BARDSTOWN
Wheat as Secondary Grain
MEDIUM-BODIED, VANILLA, CARAMEL, DRIED FRUIT, SOFT OAK, GENTLE SPICE
1792 Sweet Wheat is Barton 1792 Distillery's annual limited-edition departure from Kentucky's high-rye tradition. Where most bourbons lean on rye for their secondary grain — adding spice and structure — Sweet Wheat substitutes soft wheat, shifting the entire flavor register toward sweetness and roundness. The same Bardstown distillery, the same new charred oak, but a meaningfully different result in the glass.
Barton 1792 has operated in Bardstown since 1879, making it one of the oldest continuously operating distilleries in the Bourbon Capital of the World. At 93.7 proof, Sweet Wheat sits at an approachable strength: vanilla and caramel dominate, supported by dried fruit and a touch of white oak tannin that keeps the sweetness from going flat. Comparable in style to Maker's Mark or W.L. Weller, but at a proof that adds just enough grip.
SUGGESTED SERVES :
| Neat | the wheat-forward sweetness reads cleanest without dilution — vanilla, caramel, soft fruit |
| Whiskey Sour | the soft grain integrates cleanly with citrus; no rye spice to compete with the lemon |
| Old Fashioned | use minimal sugar — the bourbon is already sweet; the oak carries the bitters |
93.7 Proof
