Amatitena Añejo Tequila 750ml
MEXICO : JALISCO : AMATITÁN
100% Blue Weber Agave
MED-BODIED, CARAMEL, VANILLA, DRIED CHERRY, CHOCOLATE, TOASTED OAK
Amatiteña is the project of Alberto Partida, a fifth-generation maestro tequilero at his family's Cava de Oro distillery (NOM 1477) in Amatiтán — a town so central to tequila history that it was recently named a UNESCO World Heritage site. Every batch is single-estate and field-labeled with the parcel and planting year; this añejo draws from El Novillero and Las Rosas.
The production method is the brand's whole argument: mesquite-fired stone oven cooking, tahona milling, open-air wood-tank fermentation with ambient yeast, and 19th-century copper pot stills — the only brand on the market using all of these methods together. Twelve months in ex-Napa Valley red wine American oak barrels add dried cherry, vanilla, and chocolate depth without losing the cooked agave underneath. VinePair: 95 pts.
