For the first time in Ardbeg’s history, Dr. Bill Lumsden removed the copper purifier from the spirit still — the apparatus responsible for maintaining the distillery’s legendary balance between extreme peat and floral fruitiness. Without it, the heaviest vapors pass straight through unchecked. The result disrupts Ardbeg’s exalted equilibrium in the most deliberate way possible: darker, oilier, more pungent, and fundamentally unlike anything the distillery had produced before. The nose opens on beach bonfire smoke with milk chocolate, overripe fruit, and salted caramel underneath. The palate moves into mint, pineapple, ashy dustiness, and smoldering earthy peat — a combination that shouldn’t cohere but does. The finish is long, briny, and satisfying, with smoke and fruit trading off until the end. Non-chill filtered, no added color. 46% ABV.
