The Ardbeg Day 2017 release, and the distillery's first whisky with a heart matured in virgin Black Sea oak — casks grown and seasoned in Russia's Adyghe Republic, chosen by Dr Bill Lumsden, then married with ex-bourbon Ardbeg. This is the 46% general release, non-chill filtered.

The new oak pushes the house style darker. Smoked fish and seaweed on the nose, then treacle toffee, Turkish coffee, smoky bacon and a long finish of clove, tar and toffee. Whisky Advocate 88 pts.
