Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir Santa Barbara County 2022 750ml
USA : CALIFORNIA : SANTA BARBARA COUNTY
SUSTAINABLE : Pinot Noir
MED-BODIED, SPICED CRANBERRY, DARK CHERRY, PLUM, ANISE, OAK
Listed on Robert Parker’s Best Wineries of the World in both 1989 and 1999, Au Bon Climat has earned a near-mythic reputation in California wine—and in our opinion, rightly so. Jim Clendenen founded the winery in 1982 on the Bien Nacido Vineyard; his children Isabelle and Knox are carrying the legacy forward, and this 2022 is the 40th vintage.
Six Santa Barbara County vineyards—Bien Nacido, Rancho Real, Rancho Ontiveros, Rancho La Cuna, Kick On, and Los Alamos—contribute to a blend aged 12 months in François Frères French barrels, 10% new. Food-friendly and built to age, it sits well above its price point. Ken’s Wine Guide: 90 points.
PAIRINGS :
| Barbecued pork ribs | spiced cranberry and gentle tannins echo the smoky, caramelized sauce |
| Oak-grilled lamb chops | dark fruit and oak mirror the grill char; the acidity cuts through fat |
| Spicy Asian stir-fry | medium body and bright fruit hold up to chili heat without amplifying it |
