One of Scotland's few remaining Lowland single malts — and the only one made in Glasgow's orbit — Auchentoshan has practiced triple distillation since 1823, running its wash through three copper pot stills instead of the standard two. The result is a new-make spirit at approximately 81% ABV: lighter, sweeter, more restrained than the typical Scottish distillate, and built to take on cask character slowly over years rather than decades.

The 18 Year Old spends its full maturation in ex-Bourbon American Oak and Spanish Oloroso Sherry Oak casks — predominantly refill bourbon wood, with a sherry component that adds warmth and a secondary layer of richness without dominating. Eighteen years in cask on a triple-distilled base produces a whisky that is floral and cereally on the nose, with tobacco leaf, caramelised sugar, and toasted almonds coming forward, opening to a palate of sweet barley and tangy citrus before a long, well-balanced finish.

Whisky Advocate scored it 95 points. Double Gold at the 2008 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Auchentoshan calls it "the breakfast whisky" — not because it pairs with eggs, but because its sweetness and delicacy are approachable at any hour.
