Auchentoshan is the only Scottish distillery to triple-distill every whisky it makes — wash still, intermediate still, spirit still — arriving at ~81% ABV before the casks take over. Unpeated and Lowland-style, it sits closer to a light Irish single malt than a sherried Highlander.

The American Oak rests entirely in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, which give the whisky its vanilla and coconut core; the citrus finish — sugared grapefruit, a little lemon — comes from the triple distillation's light, precise cut. Priced well under $40 and drinks without fuss.
