Francesco Cirelli farms 23 hectares near Atri — a certified organic estate within a WWF-protected nature reserve, where geese graze the vine rows and the soil is calcium-rich clay just 8 kilometers from the Adriatic. The Cerasuolo takes its name from the word for cherry: Montepulciano grapes, run briefly across skins in stainless steel to pull color and aromatics without red-wine structure.
The result is bone-dry, with the dusty, fine tannins that set Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo apart from lighter Provençal rosé styles — brighter and more mineral than fruit-forward. Wine Enthusiast gave the 2022 vintage 92 points: “firm, guiding tannins and a bolt of energy from notable acid.”
