Colonel Albert Blanton kept a private habit of pulling single honey barrels from the center of Warehouse H for dignitaries and family. Elmer T. Lee commercialized it in 1984, and Blanton's became the first single barrel bourbon ever sold to the public.

It still ages only in Warehouse H, the one metal-clad rickhouse at Buffalo Trace, where harder temperature swings pull more out of the wood. High-rye Mash Bill #2 keeps the caramel from going flat.

Every barrel is hand-dumped and hand-labeled with its barrel number, rick and dump date, and the stopper carries one of eight horse-and-jockey figures that spell B-L-A-N-T-O-N-S across a full set. Breaking Bourbon called it a classic bourbon flavor profile that will please almost anyone. The Whiskey Wash, 87 points.
