Blanton's invented the single-barrel category in 1984, when master distiller Elmer T. Lee began bottling individual barrels from Warehouse H as a tribute to Colonel Albert Blanton. Straight From The Barrel is the cask-strength version of that idea — no water added, no blending with other barrels, bottled exactly as the barrel gave it up.

This bottle comes in at 127.7 proof, a number that's specific to this barrel alone; Blanton's prints each barrel's actual strength on the label rather than proofing every release down to a house standard. Buffalo Trace's own tasting notes call it dark chocolate and caramel over walnut and hazelnut, with warm vanilla, oak, and butterscotch on the palate — big, rich, and, per Breaking Bourbon, "packing some heat."
